Meet Deng Bol

Deng Bol is our language helper from the town. We started learning Arabic with him in the month of April and we've enjoyed getting to know him over the past 7 months. We wanted the GTC community to choose our language helper for us, so we asked the late Principal to find us a language helper. Principal assigned the task to Zechariah (one of the students on campus), and Zechariah chose Deng Bol for us.

Deng Bol appears at first to be very shy and soft spoken, but the more we have gotten to know him the more we discovered how outgoing he actually is.

He works as a security guard and also is receiving training to become a teacher. His goal is to eventually go to university in the state capital (Malakal) to study Political Science. With that he wants to become the Commissioner of Melut County later in life. We admire his hard work and endeavour!

Deng Bol is our age and he's married too.  His first child died at a young age, but just recently his wife gave birth to their second child.

We're very thankful for the friendship we have with Deng Bol and for the way he's been patiently teaching us the Arabic language!
