Uganda trip (hopefully saving the team $4000)

Plans change!!!!  And I'm learning to be more flexible!

Before we left Canada SIM told us that it's better to apply for a visa into South Sudan from here in Nairobi.  The requirements are changing and the duration of the visas has been changing.  Sometimes people can get a 1 month visa, rarely a 6 month visa and even more rarely a 12 month visa.

The opportunity has come up for me (David) to fly to Kampala, Uganda on behalf of the team.  I will be taking my passport and 14 others to get 6 month visas.  My flight leaves Nairobi in the afternoon Wed Jan 30 and returns in the afternoon on Fri Feb 1.

Please pray for safety and that the visa applications are all accepted.  Karen and Rachel will be staying with the rest of the team here in Nairobi at the Guesthouse.  If all goes well this trip should save the team over $4000 and a lot of headaches since we won't have to be renewing visas every month. See breakdown below.

SIM has partnered together with Africa Inland Mission (AIM) and Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).  An AIM taxi is picking me up at the airport in Uganda and I will be staying at the AIM Guesthouse (where all my meals are provided for $25/day.  What a deal!)  The MAF Logistics team will be assisting me with all of the visa applications on Thursday.

Such great partnership!!!

  1. We can certainly picture the airports and the AIM guesthouse in Kampala. We're praying that the visa process will go smoothly without undue delays.
