Rest and Relaxation

Every 3 or 4 months our organization encourages its staff to take time for rest and relaxation in Kenya.  My parents decided to pay us a visit from Canada and together we went to Lake Naivasha to enjoy some great food and some of God's beautiful creation!

Before we headed to Lake Naivasha we took my parents out to an Ethiopian restaurant in Nairobi.
Right outside of our lodge room at Lake Naivasha, Rachel was able to walk among the waterbucks...
and play with the monkeys!
Each afternoon there we had a "tea time"
and one time we got to see waterbucks and zebra run by at our lodge.
The food was good too :)
We went on a morning out to nearby Hells Gate National Park and saw more zebras...
warthogs...
impala...
giraffe (less than 10 feet from our car)...
and then we went for a hike!
Yes we all climbed down into the gorge (Rachel was on my back)
and then we were able to pause to take a picture with our guide
We also had a boat ride on Lake Naivasha to see...
pelicans...
and hippos...
and more hippos!

From May 6-10 we will be at the SIM Spiritual Life Conference (just outside of Nairobi) and then we have a few training days before we head back to South Sudan.

  1. Nice. Glad Rachel enjoyed all that!!! How will she ever go back to the animal picture books!
Glad you've had a good time with your parents.
