Rachel's day starts at around 6:30am when she usually calls out "Daddy". David unzips her mosquito dome and then pull her out and she comes running to me and then nurses for half an hour. While breakfast is cooking, Rachel is already requesting to go outside. Getting her ready is quite the affair, as we chase her around the house trying to get on a change of clothes, diaper and sunscreen. We then sit down to eat and she usually eats two bowlfuls. Once her teeth are brushed, she is released to go outside. She either plays with our expat neighbours or South Sudanese neighbours.

She has become very comfortable and has sometimes walked off to neighbours houses unbeknownst to me. After much repetitious instruction, she now informs me where she is going.
Another part of her day is spent with other creatures.

She usually takes a 1.5 hour nap and is up and ready to go out. She eats a snack, and then we start the whole dressing ordeal (clothes, sunscreen etc). If I happen to hang out with one of the ladies who is making tea or coffee, Rachel happily partakes in the drinks.

That's pretty much her day. Eat, sleep, play. David usually gives her a bath and then it's around half an hour reading books and another half an hour nursing. Then she sleeps for 10 hours.
We are excited to celebrate her 2nd birthday at the end of this month. She is very healthy, is talking up a storm, loves being with people, loves eating, loves fine motor activity, loves playing with dolls, and can count to 8 and has started with ABCs!
I love reading A Day in the Life of Rachel, what's next? A day in the life of Karen? Since you did David and Rachel. Can't wait! Hope the flood the other day wasn't too bad.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! What a busy little girl? It's a great life experience for her and she seems to be loving it. Well done Mum and Dad!
ReplyDeleteI just adore this. What an incredible learning experience for her! Sounds like amazing days for her filled with so much to explore and learn from hands on.
